Math Exercises

Hello, My Fellow Parents:

I appreciate all of you taking your time to read Tips From The Teacher.  The primary idea of this article is to help those parents who have kids who might need help with a specific math topic.   If you’ve read my last article, Parents—The Heroes of Our Time!, I wrote that education does not just refer to the academics, but also to those life and character lessons that are also taught.  The majority of parents feel very comfortable teaching their children those life and family values that are consistent with their beliefs.  It is the teaching of the academics, in this case math, that this article is concerned with.

Since most schools are closed for the rest of the school year, and parents have become the primary math teachers for their children, I would like to offer personalized, practical tips, strategies, and activities to enable parents to more easily step into this role.  How can we go about this together?  If you will please write your child’s age/grade level and the math topic they need help with in the comments section, I will respond with another article with strategies and or activities for parents to complete with their child.

Let’s say, for example, a parent needs help teaching her second grade child about multiplication.  The parent would then write the child’s age/grade level and the topic in question in the comments section.  I will then write a follow up article to address the specific request. I think this type of format works best from kindergarten through 8th grade.

If parents should have other areas of concern, we, through the wizardry of the comment box, can also address those as well.   The goal is to help parents comfortably step into the role of educator/teacher by providing easy strategies and activities for your child to learn math.  In a forum such as this, the success of these help sessions depends on the interactive quality between you, the reader, and me, the writer.  In my opinion, this is a very exciting thought.

I thank you in advance for your comments on any future or previous articles.  I do appreciate them.

So, there you have it.  Let me know if you like this idea.

Take care, stay safe, and stay healthy.

Mike
